List of Neuromuscular Blocking Agents
This page provides a list of every neuromuscular blocking agent that I know of with links to learn more about each one (coming soon). This list is limited to small non-peptide molecules that are specifically known for being neuromuscular blocking agents and that have been used to intentionally cause paralysis. There are many more molecules out there that can bind to or block acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction, but they are either not very potent at all, better known for causing some other effect, have never been used in medicine, or I don't know about them.

Possible New NMBs in development:
- Gantacurium (GW280430, has a good probability of becoming an official NMB soon)
- CW002 (similar to gantacurium)
- TAAC3 (a cool molecule that looks like 2 molecules of atropine, probably will not be used)
- G-1-64 (similar to TAAC3)
- SZ1677 (similar to rocuronium)
Lesser-Known NMBs
These are neuromuscular blocking agents that may have been researched or used for a brief time but never really saw a great amount of clinical use. Most of them had side effects such as tachycardia and/or ganglionic blockade with decrease in blood pressure, so they never saw much clinical use. It is difficult to find much information about many of them.
Steroid structured:
Other structures:
Steroid structured:
- Dipyrandium (A very early steroid structured NMB that was not used much clinically. Like malouetine, it seems to be able to bind to DNA.)
- Duador (not quite steroid structured, but close enough. It was being investigated around the same time as vecuronium, but was never approved because it caused tachycardia)
- Chandonium (candocuronium, was of short duration, but also caused tachycardia)
- Dacuronium (most likely named because it is a type of desacetyl pancuronium)
Other structures:
- Suxethonium
- Benzoquinonium (Mytolon)
- Diadonium
- Anatruxonium (truxipicurium iodide)
- Hexafluronium
- Brevatonal
- Prestonal (diohexadecanium bromide)
- Mediatonal (anethocurarium diiodide)
- Imbretil
- Tercuronium
- Ritebronium
- Diplacin
- Piprocurarium
